China unveiled fresh export control steps covering chosen advanced technologies and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which impose extra compliance duties on exporters and international logistics providers.

MOFCOM and the Ministry of Science and Technology, via Announcement No. 48 of 2026, proposed putting 40 technologies on China's Catalogue of Technologies Prohibited or Restricted from Export.

From November 18, 2026, shipments of covered items will need authorization under China's applicable export control framework.

The announcements stop short of a blanket ban on exports of all AI, biomedical, photovoltaic or drone-related products.
