Sea freight from Vietnam — FCL and LCL

FCL and LCL out of Cat Lai, Cai Mep–Thi Vai and Hai Phong.

Ocean freight is still where most Vietnamese trade moves, and it is where a forwarder either saves you money or quietly costs you a fortnight. FASTPORT holds contracted space with the main carriers calling Southern and Northern Vietnam, so your booking is confirmed against an allocation rather than sold on the spot market when rates spike.

We handle full container loads and consolidated LCL cargo, arrange the trucking to and from the terminal, and prepare and transmit the customs declaration ourselves — so a single team is accountable for the whole port-to-door leg.

What is included

FCL — 20′, 40′, 40′HC, reefer and flat rack

Bookings on the main east-west and intra-Asia strings, including monitored reefer plugs for seafood, produce and coffee.

LCL consolidation

Weekly consolidation boxes from Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong to the major hubs, so small volumes do not wait for a full container.

Port and terminal handling

Trucking to and from Cat Lai, Cai Mep–Thi Vai, Hai Phong and Da Nang, plus terminal handling, D/O release and container return.

Documentation, and cover if you want it

Bill of lading, certificate of origin and the full export or import document set prepared in-house. All-risk marine cover arranged with a Vietnamese insurer on request, quoted per shipment and issued in your name.

  • Booking confirmation with a named vessel and cut-off, not a "next available sailing"
  • All local charges — THC, seal, telex release, D/O — quoted before you book
  • Standard free time stated in the quotation, and an extension requested from the carrier before the box lands, not after
  • Shipper-owned and carrier-owned container options for special cargo
  • Consolidated invoicing across multiple shipments per month

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between FCL and LCL for my volume?

As a rule of thumb, once your cargo passes roughly 13–15 CBM a 20′ container is usually cheaper than LCL and always faster, because consolidated cargo waits for the box to fill and is deconsolidated at destination. We run the comparison for your exact volume in the quotation.

Which port should I use in Southern Vietnam?

Cat Lai is closer to the industrial zones around Ho Chi Minh City and suits intra-Asia services. Cai Mep–Thi Vai takes the large deep-sea vessels and is normally the better choice for direct Europe and US West Coast strings. We quote both.

Do you handle reefer and dangerous goods?

Yes. We book reefer containers with monitored temperature settings for seafood, produce and coffee, and we arrange IMO-classified dangerous goods with the correct declaration, packing certificate and carrier approval.
