For high-speed and urban railways, the Ministry of Construction wants to develop new technologies, among them a dedicated 5G network and a computer-based system intended to support safe train operations.
In September the ministry gave the go-ahead to two research and development projects, put forward by Viettel Group and Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT).
The Viettel proposal, the first project, targets a dedicated 5G network for high-speed rail called 5G Rail.
Under the second project, VNPT aims to build a computer-based interlocking (CBI) system for controlling train movements at urban railway stations.
