From 1 December 2026, Maersk will levy a Peak Season Surcharge on cargo moving from the West Mediterranean to the United States and Canada.
Every container type falls under the surcharge, which continues until further notice.
Where bookings are non-Spot and sit outside Federal Maritime Commission rules, the scheduled departure date of the first sea leg in the booking confirmation fixes the rate.
Under FMC regulation, the Price Calculation Date is taken as the final container gate-in date.
Unless another payment term is chosen, the surcharge is collected at origin.
